Carolyn W. Colvin is the Acting Commissioner of Social Security and Trustee to the Social Security Board of Trustees. Prior to these roles, she was President Obama’s nominee to serve as the Deputy Commissioner, confirmed by the United States Senate in December 2010.
On June 20, 2014, President Barack Obama nominated Carolyn Watts Colvin to be commissioner of Social Security. Colvin has been serving in the job in an acting capacity since February 14, 2013.
